Corruption has a disproportionate impact on the poor and most vulnerable, and it erodes trust in government and undermines the social contract. It is something we should all be concerned with. It affects the economic growth, jobs, investments, and a fair judicial system. Corruption is a global problem that requires global solutions.

As a member of Transparency International – Croatia, Dino is working tirelessly on eliminating corruption and making systems and procedures more transparent which should lead to a more just, fair and progressive development of our societies. As long as government officials and business figures are not responsible for their criminal activities, we need to be concerned about our democracies and values they represent. Since his early activism in the fight against corruption, Dino has been committed to the core principles and values of transparency, responsibility, honesty, solidarity, courage, justice and democracy.

Dino sees corruption and bribery in the government sector as one of the biggest threats to any country’s stability and well-being. According to the United Nations, abuse of public office for unjust advantages may include any planned, attempted, requested or successful transfer of a benefit as a result of the unjust exploitation of an official position. It is a shame that this kind of behavior has become an everyday news.

Dino will work on promoting and implementing a comprehensive plan for the fight against corruption in every form, by:

  • Supporting the public, media and private sectors, as well as the youth, religious organizations, and the three branches of government, at the national and municipal level, to strengthen checks and balances, to build integrity, and to curb corruption.
  • Educating young people about the importance of transparency and the fight against corruption since their early education, inspiring them to stay true to the core principles of our democracies.
  • Providing the media with facts and credible, trustworthy information about corruption activities at all levels, as well as for other elements of civil society.
  • Supporting law regulations that will forbid individuals charged with corruption and other criminal activities, to run for public office, to be a member of parliament, or to hold the position of president, prime minister or minister.
  • Supporting law enforcement and special prosecutors to bring individuals and groups to justice.
  • Supporting anti-corruption measures at the national level.
  • Encouraging the monitoring of performances in the fight against corruption by credible non-government organizations and movements.
  • Actively assisting in the implementation of transparency and accountability efforts, such as anti-laundering money laws and regulations.
  • Providing leadership in creation of international transparency standards.
  • Strategically supporting and engaging in international alliances and regional anti-corruption movements.
  • Working on the further strengthening of civil society.
