What is the greatest threat to our democracies? Hate. More precisely – the blind hatred one group or nation can have for another. And that is why Dino is convinced that nationalism is the existential threat of our time. Nationalism is not the same as patriotism. It’s a perversion of patriotism. Nationalism, the belief system held by those who committed violent actions against our fellow citizens, promotes the idea that inclusion and diversity represent weakness, that the only way to succeed is to give blind allegiance to the supremacy of one race over all others. Nothing could be less humane.

We are facing the rise of white supremacy, neo-Nazi groups marching the streets, the rise of racism, blinded hate, and violence toward minorities. We are witnessing a loss of young lives across the world because of the lack of courage of our leaders to face extremist, and to reject any kind of fascism, nationalism, racism, etc.

Dino believes that we need to stand together in the fight against domestic terrorism by:

• Prioritizing domestic terrorism investigations.
• Working closely with media to raise awareness about frightful historic experiences, and inform the public about the consequences of accepting violence and hate as rhetoric or a way of acting.
• Increasing resources for analyzing and preventing global white nationalist terrorism.
• Supporting government intelligence reporting, and operational information to successfully understand the process of radicalization.
• Implementing comprehensive monitoring of white nationalist websites forums that serve as extremist echo chambers.
• Legally prosecuting individuals and groups that are inciting violence towards minorities.
• Demanding mandatory background checks for gun owners, and improving gun control.
• Rejecting violent racist threats or anti-immigrant manifestos.
